PSI have developed a range of patent pending lighting methods and techniques with the aim of complimenting the PSI camera range. For high speed images PSI have developed Xenon flash technology capable of operating for 60 million flashes before maintenance is required. PSI also implement Xenon flash technology in situations where ambient lighting is high. Using infra-red technology and flash photography PSIs Machine Vision solutions are capable of capturing images suitable for biometric applications and machine vision in full sunlight - while remaining eye safe.

In situations where high speed photography is not required and ambient lighting is not too bright PSI implement other lighting technologies. With recent improvements in LEDs these have become the ideal low power, low cost solution for low speed photography in an area with low ambient lighting.

For situations where lighting may vary PSI can customise solutions to dynamically change which light sources are being used and how they are being used. This can be done on a frame by frame basis so that no information is lost due to changing lighting conditions.
