Image Processing

Having acquired the digital image, it must be interpreted for the task in hand. Image processing can be performed within the camera or the PC or even using a combination of both. We are able to develop many of the standard processing methods such as edge detection, blurring, adaptive thresholding etc. Perception SI can also implement more complex algorithms such as fiducial/marker detection, finger detection, facial recognition and motion analysis.

Perception SI is interested in promoting open-source software development. Some of our engineers are responsible for the creation and on-going development of the OpenIllusionist Project which aims to help move augmented environments out of the research lab and into homes, offices, museums etc. OpenIllusionist itself is a library that allows for rapid development of video-augmented environment applications and relies heavily on image processing techniques.
